This is very common on any engine with a rocker arm setup like the Toyota 20R and 22RRERET motors in Pickup trucks and 4Runners.

22R Engine Specs From 1985 to 1988 the 22RE was produced with a maximum output of 105 horsepower at 4800 rpm. The maximum torque reached 137 at 2800 rpm. It had a displacement of 2366 cc.

Main Torque Specs The main bolts have a torque of 76 lb-feet and the cylinder head bolts have 62 lb-feet of torque. The cylinder head studs have 70 foot-lbs of torque the cam timing gear have lb-feet of torque and the cam bearing bolt has 14 lb-feet of torque. Toyota 22RE Performance Specs.

The 22RE as it was originally released had a max power rating of 105 horsepower at 4800 RPM and a peak torque of 137 lb-ft at 2800 RPM. Note I am not bad-mouthing Toyota. Just stating a fact that a 22 or 24 liter engine in something that weighs 7000 lbs. And has high wind resistance is really getting a workout just about all the time.
